USPS

With so many negatives about the postal service, I thought I'd post a positive.

I use a PO box to get my mail. It's a long story having to do with physical address, where I get my mail, where the post office says I live, where the insurance co. says I live etc. It's just generally easier for me to go pick mail up at the little post office less than 2 miles from my house.

Every now and again it gets confusing when I order something on-line. So I ordered from Amazon, expecting delivery from FedEx so I gave them my physical address. Only problem was that rather than drop the package off at my house, FedEx delivered it to the huge USPS hub about 15 miles away. What usually happens in that case is that the package is returned and I have to jump through hoops to get stuff refunded, re-ordered, re-shipped, etc. This doesn't really happen very often but it's a pain when it does. So I had resigned myself to spending time on Monday to get everything straightened out.

At 6:00 this evening we were getting ready to go out for dinner and there was the package from Amazon on my front porch. Now I don't have a mailbox and I'm not on the rural delivery route. In spite of that the mail carrier went out of his or her way to leave the package here. I was outside at about 4:00 and there was no package then. All I can figure is that someone took the time to make a special trip to my house to deliver this package.

I have no way of knowing who did it so the best I can do is say thank you to the person who went out of their way for me. You made my upcoming Monday much easier and less stressful for me.
